The SBA website has access to dozens of CT small business resources.  For starting a business I would recommend browsing the SBA's Startup Kit .  If it is financing you desire then the Finance portion of the website has information on many SBA lending opportunities, such as their 7(a), 504 and micro loan programs. Additional programs for women owned businesses , minorities and Veterans are also available.

If it is direct counseling you seek, I would take advantage of the Small Business Office at Gateway Community College, 60 Sargent Drive, New Haven, CT 06511, Room 207 A (203) 865-7645.  Or you can find a local SCORE Office near you.  SCORE is a business mentoring organization which consists of current and retired business executives.  They offer live or online mentoring.

For established businesses looking to do business with the federal, state or local government the Connecticut Procurement Technical Assistance Program offers one-on-one business counseling for registering your business, bid proposal preparation and even post award follow-up. 

For businesses looking to expand their sales overseas, the U.S. Department of Commerce, Middletown Export Assistance Center , can help you realize your goals.  The Middletown Export Assistance Center can help you find overseas markets, establish contact with them and, most importantly, do business with them.
