Statement of the Hon. Rosa L. DeLauro

New IAM Contract at U.S. Repeating Arms

NEW HAVEN – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn.-3) today issued the following statement in response to the new contract announced today between the International Association of Machinists (IAM) Local 609 and U.S. Repeating Arms. The previous labor contract expired at midnight tonight.

“Connecticut has seen a great loss in its manufacturing sector in recent years. U.S. Repeating Arms employees were rightly concerned about their job security and health care benefits.

“I am pleased to see that company and union officials were able to negotiate in good faith to reach a compromise that benefits both parties. Now that a strike was averted, these workers can get back to building the specialized product Connecticut has manufactured for over 100 years.”
