Statement of the Hon. Rosa L. DeLauroIntelligence Bill Becomes LawWASHINGTON - President Bush today signed into law the intelligence bill, the largest overhaul of our nation’s security in 50 years. The bill includes some of the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission and was supported by the 9/11 families. Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn.-3), a strong supporter of those recommendations, issued the following statement. “There is no doubt that America will be safer because of the major overhaul in our nation’s security that is now law. This legislation has come a long way - the 9/11 Commission’s hard work made this possible and the 9/11 families persistence allowed us to never forget that that we will not stop fighting to keep America’s towns and cities safe. “Now that reform of our intelligence network is underway, the Bush Administration must fully fund the promises made to homeland security. Until local communities and first responders have the resources they need to take action on homeland security threats, Americans will not be as safe as they can be.”
