ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER ASSAULT ON WOMEN

DeLauro Decries Governor Walker's Overturning Of Wisconsin Equal Pay Law

Washington, DC –Congresswoman DeLauro issued the following statement in response to Governor Walker's action overturning the Wisconsin equal pay law.

"Last Thursday, April 5, Governor Scott Walker continued the war against women by signing a bill repealing Wisconsin's 2009 Equal Pay Enforcement Act. The 2009 Act allowed victims of workplace discrimination to seek damages in state courts.

This action further highlights the need to enact legislation at the federal level. The Paycheck Fairness Act, which I have introduced in every Congress since 1997, has twice passed the United States House of Representatives, but unfortunately contains no Republican cosponsors. Being sure that women receive equal pay for equal work should not be a partisan issue."
