WASHINGTON, DC — House Appropriations Committee Chair Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03) this week led the passage of H.R. 3237, the Emergency Security Supplemental to Respond to January 6th, a funding bill that supports the United States Capitol Police with funding, overtime pay, equipment, and support services.

"On January 6, a mob of violent insurrectionists invaded our Capitol – hellbent on stopping the peaceful transfer of power. The brave men and women of our Capitol Police protected us. And since that fateful day, they have continued to work day in and day out, with only the barest minimum of support. They have soldiered on with physical, mental, and emotional trauma and have sacrificed their own needs and those of their families for the safety and security of our democracy," said Chair DeLauro. "By passing this critical funding, we are meeting the needs of the Capitol Police and we are saying to law enforcement all across the country that we respect the hard work they do for all of us."

Two months ago, DeLauro led the House in passing the Emergency Security Supplemental. This week, the Senate finally acted on the critical spending bill with an amendment making changes outside the Capitol Police provisions. House passage of the Senate amendment clears the bill for President Biden's signature.
