Chair DeLauro Statement on Funding for the Columbia Class Submarine Program in Further Additional Extending Government Funding Act
WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Appropriations Committee Chair Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) released the following statement on a provision included in her bill, the Further Additional Extending Government Funding Act, that will prevent funding shortfalls in the Columbia class submarine program.
"I am proud that the Continuing Resolution I negotiated includes critical funding for advance procurement for the Columbia class submarine program. Without this urgent funding, there would be significant delays to construction and delivery for the Navy. By passing this legislation, the House has prevented unnecessary production delays that would undermine our national security.
"I thank Congressman Joe Courtney, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Seapower and Projection Forces, for his partnership on this urgent issue and look forward to the Senate passing this Continuing Resolution, so that it can be enacted into law."
