Chair DeLauro Included Funding for this Conference in the Recently Passed Federal Spending Package

NEW HAVEN – House Appropriations Committee Chair Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) released a statement on the White House announcement that they will hold a Conference on Hunger, Nutrition and Health:

"During a conversation with a mother from New Haven a few months ago on the benefits of the Child Tax Credit, she described a nightly conversation she has with her husband. Every night, they decide which one of them will go without dinner so that they can feed their children. This conversation is all too common among families across the country—across the wealthiest nation in the world. We have the resources to end hunger, and I am glad the Biden Administration is taking this issue seriously.

"As Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, I am proud to have included funding for this White House conference in the recently passed federal spending package. I thank House Rules Committee and Hunger Caucus Chairman Jim McGovern for his steadfast commitment to bringing back this Conference for the first time in 50 years. I look forward to seeing the outcomes of these conversations and continuing the important work of ending hunger and addressing diet-related diseases."
