DELAURO ON $4,523,659 IN HOUSING ASSISTANCE GRANT RENEWALS

New Haven, CT – Congresswoman Rosa L.DeLauro (CT-3) applauded the renewal of $4,523,659 in funding for 23Continuum of Care Homeless Assistance programs in Connecticut's 3rdDistrict today.

The Continuum of Care Homeless Assistance program is intended to help provide community-based assistance tohomeless individuals and to help address the underlying causes ofhomelessness such as physical, economic and social needs. Part of morethan $1.4 billion awarded by the U.S. Department of Housing and UrbanDevelopment (HUD) across the country today, the funds will help toensure that these local housing and service programs will be able tocontinue operating in the next year.

"This is wonderful news for theseorganizations, and for those who depend on them, especially during theholiday season. The Continuum of Care Homeless Assistance programs play a critical role in helping to improve the lives of our homelesspopulation by providing stable housing and the assistance they need toget off the streets," said Congresswoman DeLauro. "I am very pleasedthat these grants have been renewed for the next year, and will enablethese organizations to continue providing these important services inour communities."
