DeLauro on Air Force F-22 Spare Engine Purchase Announcement

New Haven, CT – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (CT-3) released the following statement today in response to the Air Force's announcement that it will be purchasing 22 initial spare F-22 engines from Pratt and Whitney.

"I am very pleased that today the Air Force announced a contract with Pratt and Whitney for the purchase of 22 spare F-22 engines. With the cancellation of the F-22 program, I have worked hard to preserve the local manufacturing jobs associated with this program, and with this announcement we are doing just that, maintaining approximately 400 jobs between the Middletown and East Hartford facilities," said Congresswoman DeLauro. "I understand that this contract will help sustain this work into 2012 and I will continue to work to ensure these good, high skilled jobs remain into the future."
