June 3, 2022

Today, House Appropriations Committee Chair Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03), announced that Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, a Lockheed Martin Company in Stratford, Connecticut, was awarded an additional $185,694,050 for the procurement and delivery of two CH-53K Heavy Lift Aircrafts.

"Sikorsky produces the best helicopters in the world, and I am so proud to see them made right here in Stratford, Connecticut," said Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro. "Sikorsky remains an industry leader when it comes to engineering, innovation, and supporting our nation's defense. This funding is an investment not just in our Armed Services, but in workers too. It will create a pipeline for aviation manufacturing, allowing aviation workers to transition to operating new fleets. I've long said domestic manufacturing is pivotal to a strong economy, and the funding announced will create and sustain good paying jobs in our community for years. We need to once again be a nation that builds, not just a nation that consumes. This is how we strengthen our own supply chains and retire our dependence on foreign manufacturing. I will always fight to make sure good-paying, union jobs stay in Connecticut."

Since 1929, Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation has designed and manufactured world-class military and commercial helicopters and airplanes in Stratford, Connecticut. Their designs are by all five branches of the United States Armed Forces and account for nearly half of all maritime helicopters in service today.
