DeLauro Announces $42,229 in COVID-19 Relief for Milford Redevelopment and Housing Partnership
MILFORD, CT — Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) Chair of the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee, today announced $42,229 in federal coronavirus relief for Milford Redevelopment and Housing Partnership. DeLauro helped secure these critical emergency Housing Assistance Program (HAP) funds in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
"The coronavirus has left too many Connecticut families facing economic hardship and housing instability," said Congresswoman DeLauro. "As a strong advocate for federal investments in Connecticut's housing, I am thrilled to have helped secure this funding for the Milford Redevelopment and House Partnership. We must continue supporting families searching for stable housing or struggling to avoid eviction as a result of COVID-19."
These HAP funds will assist low-income residents who have experienced financial hardship related to COVID-19 in obtaining or retaining housing. Funds can be used to help cover costs such as rent, utilities, security deposits, or late fees.
"We want to thank Congresswoman DeLauro for her leadership in helping to secure these supplemental funds that will be so welcome by persons that have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic," Anthony J. Vasiliou, Executive Director of the Milford Housing Authority on behalf of the Board of Commissioners of the Milford redevelopment and Housing Partnership. "Hardship is widespread, and Milford has been affected like thousands of communities in the State and across the country. This grant will help us secure and maintain housing opportunities for those that have been most impacted."
"The people of Connecticut can rest assured they have representation in Congress that is focused on families and is fighting to keep a roof over every family's head," said Congresswoman DeLauro. "I will continue working to ensure the next coronavirus relief package provides additional support for housing and delivers for the hardworking people of Connecticut."
