DeLauro Announces House Vote on Expired Health Care Subsidies, Increasing Premiums

Access Health CT Extended Enrollment Deadline through January 31st to Enroll in Coverage

Today, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) announced that this Thursday the House of Representatives will vote on final passage to extend for three years Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies that keep health care affordable for more than 143,000 people in Connecticut through Access Health CT.

“Republicans failed to advance a three-year extension of the Affordable Care Act subsidies that would keep health care affordable for 26 million Americans and 143,000 Connecticut residents this year,” said Congresswoman DeLauro. “However, thanks to the efforts of House Democrats and a few Republicans, we were able to force a vote on a three-year extension of these desperately needed subsidies. I urge my Republican colleagues to stand with their constituents who are struggling because of the affordability crisis President Trump has intensified.”

Access Health CT recently announced the final deadline to enroll in a health or dental plan for 2026 has been extended to Saturday, January 31st. The original deadline was Thursday, January 15th. To find out if you’re eligible for additional relief through Access Health CT, click here.

In December, Governor Lamont announced that Connecticut would spend $70 million to partly offset the loss of the ACA subsidies that Connecticut residents rely on.

“We’re fortunate in Connecticut that Governor Lamont has stepped up to cover some of the cost for our most vulnerable residents and I applaud his efforts to ensure residents of Connecticut do not fall in the gap,” DeLauro continued. “But this is not and cannot be a long-term solution for keeping health care affordable. We must reenact these subsidies.”
