DeLauro Announces Three Grants for School-Based Health Centers

Created By Affordable Care Act, Expands Access toMental Health Services

WASHINGTON,DC—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) announced today that three Connecticuthealth centers have been awarded grants by the Health and Human ServicesDepartment. With the grants, Griffin Hospital, Fair Haven CommunityHealth Clinic and Community Health Center, Inc. will be better able to providecomprehensive physical and mental health care to students, in their schools,where the care is easily accessible.

"Thesegrants will go a long way towards making health services more readily availablefor children and adolescents. Unfortunately Connecticut needs no reminderof how critical it is to make sure young people can access mental, as well asphysical health care services. I am proud the Affordable Care Act createdthis grant program and we are continuing to support programs that make ourcommunities healthier. Even in tough fiscal times, we have to putpeople's health and safety first."

Theawards are as follows:

  • Community Health Center, Inc; Middletown--$451,370
  • Fair Haven Community Health Clinic, Inc; New Haven--$231,305
  • Griffin Hospital/Griffin Health Services Corporation; Derby--$26,772

Underthe Affordable Care Act, the Secretary of Health and Human Services is requiredto award grants to support school-based health centers that providecomprehensive physical and mental health services to children andadolescents. For more information on the program, click here.
