DeLauro Announces Visit to Texas to Investigate Trump’s Child-Family Separation Facilities
WASHINGTON, DC — Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today announced she will be visiting Texas this weekend to investigate facilities where children have been separated from their parents due to the Trump Administration’s zero-tolerance policy. Over 2,300 children have been separated from their parents since the Trump administration implemented their zero tolerance policy, and the President’s executive order is silent on how quickly they will be reunited.
“This is child abuse, plain and simple. And it is causing irreparable harm to children right now,” said DeLauro. “It is essential that Congress shines a light on this appalling policy and continue to pressure the White House to end it. This is a fight for the soul of our nation—who we are and what our values are. We must continue to use our voices to oppose to this policy. This is a clear issue of right and wrong, and we cannot give up.”
