DeLauro Applauds News New Haven Is a Race to the Top-District Finalist

One of Just 31 Districts Nationwide To Be Selected

WASHINGTON, DC—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) issued the following statement applauding today’s announcement that the City of New Haven has been selected as a Race to the Top-District finalist:

“This is great news and I want to congratulate Mayor DeStefano, Superintendent Garth Harries and recent past Superintendent Reginald Mayo for being just one of 31 finalists nationwide. But it is just a step in the process. I hope the Education Department recognizes the promise of New Haven students and names New Haven as one of the winning applicants.”

The Race to the Top winners are expected to be announced before the end of the year.
