DeLauro Applauds USPS Decision to Keep Saturday Delivery

April 10, 2013

WASHINGTON, DC—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) releasedthe following statement today on the United States Postal Service (USPS)'sdecision to cease their plan to end Saturday delivery.

"Today's announcement is good news for the thousands ofConnecticut postal workers who have received a temporary reprieve. Thesededicated professionals help keep our country running in every type ofsituation imaginable, from the anthrax attacks to ever-present attacks onfederal employees. But the decision is only temporary and we must keep fightingto ensure that it becomes permanent. Congress needs to pass comprehensivepostal reform to ensure that USPS can stay financially solvent for many yearsto come. I urge my colleagues to preserve six day delivery permanently so thatthis great American institution can continue to survive and thrive."
