DeLauro Celebrates Back to School Week in Connecticut
NEW HAVEN, CT (August 27, 2019) - Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement as the new school year begins in Connecticut.
“This week, kids, teachers, and administrators are heading back to school across Connecticut,” said DeLauro. “The start of the new school year gives everyone involved a chance to work hard, learn new ideas, and shape the minds of our next generation. In Congress, I will continue to push that mission by fighting for every last dollar for critical education programs. Programs like Title I, which helps disadvantaged students, must be enhanced so that every student has a fair shot at a good education. We also need to ensure children’s social and emotional needs are met, which is why included a new initiative aimed at addressing that issue in the House-passed funding bill. As Congress works to fund the government for the next fiscal year in September, our youngsters will remain a top priority for me.”
DeLauro serves as Chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee responsible for funding the Department of Education.
