DeLauro Celebrates Connecticut Permanent Commission on the Status of Women’s 40th Anniversary
WASHINGTON, DC—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) releasedthe following statement today celebrating the Connecticut Permanent Commissionon the Status of Women (PCSW)'s 40th anniversary. DeLauro is alongtime advocate for women's rights, including health care and the fight forequal pay.
"Today we celebrate the PCSW and all the great work they doto ensure issues that impact women and their families are at the forefront ofConnecticut's public policy discussions. Due to their leadershipConnecticut stands as a leader in the issues that impact women's economicsecurity, health and safety. Whether it is family and medical leave, aprohibition on drive-through mastectomies, paid sick leave, or the traffickingof young women and children Connecticut is a national model.
"Congratulations are also in order for Jessica Soloman ofDurham and Kristen Hinz of New Milford who placed first and second respectivelyin the Commission's Young Women's Leadership Program essay contest. Through programs like these the PCSW is inspring a new generation of womenleaders.

Connecticut's General Assembly established the PCSW in 1973to identify issues affecting the status of women and to provide leadership andinformation to policy-makers, businesses, non-profits and the educationcommunity, as well as the general public and the media.
