DeLauro Celebrates Passage of Small Business Jobs Act

September 23, 2010
Bill provides tax cuts and access to capital to help small business job creation

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (CT-3) voted today for the Small Business Jobs Act, which will help to spur economic growth and create up to 500,000 new jobs. The bill increases lending to small businesses across the country, offers tax incentives, and closing tax loopholes that rewarded companies for shipping jobs overseas.

The Small Business Jobs Act will help the 27 million small businesses across the country, and 329,618 in Connecticut alone, create jobs and increase growth with $12 billion in tax cuts, leveraging up to $300 billion in private sector lending, and state grants. Through these measures and increased access to capital, the Small Business Jobs Act will help put Americans back to work.

"Small businesses are the engine of our economy, and we must do all we can to support them. By providing tax cuts, access to capital, and eliminating the loopholes that were sending American jobs overseas, we are helping to rebuild the future of our economy. It is critical that we keep moving forward, and this legislation will help to ensure that American businesses survive and thrive," said Congresswoman DeLauro. "I am proud to have voted for this bill, and look forward to seeing its positive impact on businesses at home in Connecticut and across the country."
