DeLauro Celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week

May 9, 2012

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (D-CT) today took part in Teacher Appreciation Week with the following statement celebrating the contributions of teachers across Connecticut and the country:

"Growing up in New Haven, my teachers were a crucial part of my education, both inside and outside of the classroom. In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, I want to take the time to thank them—and the millions of other teachers—who have had such a profound role shaping generations of children.

"We can celebrate Teacher Appreciation Day year round by investing in our schools and giving teachers the necessary tools to provide a quality education for our children. It is critically important that we work on strengthening professional development for teachers. Programs like the Yale-New Haven Teachers Institute are crucial to keeping our teachers up-to-date on the latest methods and strategies for success."
