DELAURO ON END OF IRAQ WAR

December 15, 2011

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (CT-3) issued the following statement on the end of the military mission in Iraq.

"As we mark the end of the war in Iraq, my thoughts and prayers are with the families of the nearly 4,500 brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice, and the many more who were wounded. Thousands of troops from Connecticut have deployed to Iraq, and their courage and dedication is an inspiration. I applaud President Obama for his leadership in ending the war, bringing our troops home and, I believe, following the will of the American people. This was a war that many, including myself, opposed and I am glad to see its end." said Congresswoman DeLauro. "As our troops return home, we must ensure that our veterans and their families have the support and services they need. We have a responsibility to these American heroes, and we should honor the sacrifices they have made."
