DeLauro Highlights Crime Reduction Funding for West Haven
$225,000 Grant to Crime Reduction and Quality of Life Improvement Project
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (D-CT) today heralded the announcement by the Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Assistance that $225,000 in Recovery Act funds will be made available to the City of West Haven for the Crime Reduction and Quality of Life Improvement Project.
"This grant gives local law enforcement the tools they need to keep the citizens of West Haven well-protected," said Congresswoman DeLauro. "By supporting crime reduction programs that work to build relationships between law enforcement officials and at-risk youths, this funding will go a long way towards staving off potential criminal behavior at the source, while expanding community and improving the quality of life in the city."
The $225,000 grant will be used to fund personnel and participant expenses in implanting the Citizens and Police Problem Solving activities (CAPPS); Operation Bed Check; West Haven Police Department's Citizen's Police Academy; West Haven Youth Police Academy, and a Youth Summer Program.
