DeLauro Highlights Transportation Funding for New Haven and Branford
$18.8 Million Grant Going to Rail Yard Expansion; Station Improvement
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (D-CT) today heralded the announcement by the Department of Transportation that $18.8 million in Recovery Act funding has been made available to the state of Connecticut for rail yard and parking expansion and station improvement in New Haven and Branford.
"This $18.8 million in transportation funds will not only provide an immediate economic boon to the region," said Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, "but will help to improve service and connectivity all along the nation's most heavily-traveled commuter line."
The funds include:
$10,000,000 for the New Haven Line (NHL) Station Improvement Project to implement the construction phase;
$5,400,000 for the Shore Line East – Branford Railroad Station Parking Expansion project; and
$3,391,192 for the New Haven Rail Yard Component Change Out Shop (CCO).
