July 31, 2012

Domenic Rotolo Served as Radio Operator in the Pacific

Stratford, CTCongresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) recently honored World War II veteran and Stratford resident Domenic Rotolo with the medals he never received for his wartime service. Rotolo served in the Army from May 1943 to January 1946 and was stationed in the Pacific as a radio operator.

“Domenic installed, operated and maintained radio transmitting and receiving equipment, ensuring our troops had the latest information they needed to stay safe in the line of fire,” DeLauro said. “He gave so much of himself for our nation’s freedom and helped protect invaluable treasures. War is an experience that lasts a lifetime and touches all generations, and I know it will always be a part of who Domenic is. These medals are just one way we thank him, and all the other great World War II veterans, for standing up when their country needed them and helping to rid the world of a terrible tyranny.”
