DeLauro Marks National Health Center Week

August 18, 2017

WASHINGTON, DC (August 18, 2017) Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement celebrating National Health Center Week, which recognizes the importance of our nation's Community Health Centers.

"For over 50 years, Community Health Centers have helped residents in Connecticut and around the country get the primary, preventive, dental, and mental health care they need. Community Health Centers served more than 350,000 patients each year in Connecticut and reduced unnecessary hospitalizations and ER visits," said DeLauro. "They also provide a boost to local economies in many underserved and low-income communities, employing nearly 190,000 people and generating over $45 billion in economic activity. The impact of Community Health Centers on the lives of children and families in Connecticut and across the country cannot be overstated."

"During National Health Center week—and every week—I salute our Community Health Centers and all their wonderful, hard-working employees that make a difference in others' lives every day."

DeLauro is a longtime champion for high-quality, affordable health care and the senior Democrat on the subcommittee responsible for funding the Department of Health and Human Services.
