DELAURO MEETS WITH 3RD DISTRICT MUNICIPAL LEADERS

February 24, 2012

Washington, DC— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) conducted her annual meeting today with local Mayors, First Selectmen, and Town Managers from the Third Congressional District to discuss the year to come and issues of consequence for local towns and communities.

"All levels of government, from our local towns to the Federal level, are still operating in an extraordinarily tight fiscal environment, mainly because the economy continues to struggle. Along with outstanding issues such as last year's historic storms, municipal leaders and I today discussed what to expect in the year to come, and how we can best continue to address the most important priorities for our communities, from education to transportation to the public safety. I look forward to continuing to work with them to make sure our commitment to these fundamental priorities is maintained.

"We also spent time discussing the president's recently released budget, which cuts wasteful spending while making critical investments in education, innovation, manufacturing, energy, and infrastructure. We are at a very delicate moment in our economy. We need real leadership to get back on track, and the president's budget gives us a way forward. You can be sure I will continue to fight for the investments and policies that best benefit our communities and families across the District."
