DeLauro Named Co-Chair of House Army Aviation Caucus
WASHINGTON, DC (January 18, 2017) — Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today was named as a Co-Chair of the House Army Aviation Caucus, which serves to create a forum where Members of Congress, staff, and Army leaders can bring awareness and support to the Army Aviation Sector. DeLauro will serve as Co-Chair along with Congressman Mo Brooks (AL-05), Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02), and Congresswoman Martha Roby (AL-02).
"The bipartisan Army Aviation Caucus is critical to highlighting key defense issues for Congress and I am honored serve as Co-Chair along with Reps. Brooks, Gabbard, and Roby. Together, we will be able to elevate these important issues, which strengthen a sector that employs thousands of Americans and is a significant share of our nation's defense budget. I am proud to represent the headquarters of Sikorsky in my district, where hardworking men and women build some of the most advanced helicopters in the world, and I look forward to working closely with the caucus," said Congresswoman DeLauro.
"I am excited to welcome Congresswoman DeLauro as a Co-Chair of the Army Aviation Caucus for the 115th Congress. As Co-Chairs of the caucus, we seek to raise awareness of Army aviation issues with Congress and the public. DeLauro's advocacy for the aviation community and firsthand knowledge of a key industrial base that supplies our armed services will be a tremendous asset to the caucus. I look forward to working with her to reaffirm Congress' bipartisan commitment to aviation readiness," said Congressman Brooks.
With both Sikorsky and Pratt & Whitney located in Connecticut, DeLauro has been a leader in aviation issues related to the U.S. military. Most recently, DeLauro successfully fought for the CH-53K King Stallion helicopter to be built in Connecticut and for the Navy to maintain a Marine One maintenance contract with Sikorsky in the state. In addition, DeLauro continues to fight for federal funding for key programs related to Sikorsky and Pratt and Whitney, including the Combat Rescue Helicopter, the UH-60M Blackhawk, and the MH-60 Seahawk.
