DeLauro Named Ranking Member of Appropriations Labor-H Subcommittee
Washington, DC— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) was named the Ranking Member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies today. DeLauro has served as a member of this subcommittee for 16 years, and was nominated by her colleagues on the Appropriations Committee today.
Previously, Congresswoman DeLauro served as the Chairwoman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and she will remain a member of the subcommittee. Additionally, DeLauro will continue to serve as co-chair of the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee.
"I have been proud to serve on the Agriculture and FDA Appropriations Subcommittee, and am very proud of what we were able to accomplish. We provided the necessary resources to better protect our food supply, as well as improve the safety of drugs and devices. We improved access to fundamental nutrition programs that combat hunger. And, we provided critical investments to help facilitate growth in rural America.
"Now, I look forward to following my dear friend and mentor, David Obey, on to the Labor, Health and Human Services Appropriations Subcommittee. The work of this subcommittee has always reflected our nation's priorities and the highest moral obligation of our government - providing health care services, educating our children, advancing scientific research to find the cures of tomorrow, and strengthening job training programs, which are especially critical in this tough economy."
