DeLauro on Nomination of Solicitor General Kagan to the Supreme Court

May 10, 2010

Washington, DC- Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement in response to President Obama's selection of Solicitor General Elana Kagan as his nomination for the Supreme Court of the United States.

"I am pleased with President's Obama's choice for the next Supreme Court justice, and believe that Solicitor General Elana Kagan will make an excellent member of the highest court in our land. Kagan is a true trailblazer, serving as the first female dean of Harvard Law School and the first female Solicitor General of the United States—positions in which she demonstrated an outstanding legal mind and the ability to work with a wide range of viewpoints. Her wealth of experience outside the courtroom, coupled with her time as the Solicitor General, will be an asset to the court, and I look forward to a smooth confirmation process in the Senate."
