DELAURO: NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN CREATING JOBS, PUTTING AMERICANS BACK TO WORK
Listened to Hamden small business owners’ concerns, shared ideas on how to create jobs and strengthen economy
New Haven, CT – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (CT-3) visited several small businesses in downtown Hamden, CT today to speak with business owners and employees and to listen to their concerns about the economy.
Congresswoman DeLauro met with the owners and employees of the small businesses, discussing the difficult economy and how each business has fared, her ideas for creating jobs and economic growth, and what they think should be done. The Congresswoman interacted with customers and listened to what the community had to say about President Obama’s American Jobs Act, which is intended to small businesses and make critical economic investments across the country.
“Nothing is more important to our economy right now than creating jobs and putting Americans back to work. To do that – to create the conditions for prosperity and foster a meaningful and sustained economic recovery that reaches all Americans – we can start by doing all we can to support our small businesses, where 80 percent of new jobs in Connecticut, are created.
“I have developed a jobs agenda which I believe will both address the need for jobs now and lay the long-term foundations for economic growth: Rebuilding America, growing our manufacturing capacity, protecting working families, and strengthening small business and the middle class. Taken together, I believe these proposals will help move us forward and help put America back to work. We have to take action on this jobs crisis right now, while rebuilding our infrastructure and manufacturing capacity. I believe these bills will get us started on the path.”
