DeLauro Praises Local Clean-Tech Manufacturing Company
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (CT-3) visited Sensor Switch, Inc., a company was awarded $225,000 in Advanced Energy Manufacturing Tax Credits through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for their innovative and sustainable business practices.
Owned by Acuity Brands, Inc., Sensor Switch has been located in Wallingford since 1987. The company was selected as a recipient of these funds for their use of energy-saving light sensors. Congresswoman DeLauro toured the facility, spoke to some of the employees, and discussed the benefits these funds will bring about.
Congresswoman DeLauro said, "When we passed the Recovery Act a year ago, we had innovative local businesses like Sensor Switch in mind. They are, like all small businesses across our state and nation, the engine of our prosperity. I have long believed that, if we really want to keep our country prosperous and competitive over the next century, we need to return to an outlook in America that prizes and supports domestic manufacturing—and companies like Sensor Switch are leading the way.
"These tax credits will enable Sensor Switch to increase production, which will mean more assembling jobs for high-skilled manufacturing workers in Wallingford, which means more folks will have money to spend all throughout the whole town, which in turn leads to more jobs. This multiplier effect – which is key to restoring our economic vitality and creating jobs, and which was the intention behind our Recovery Act in the first place – begins right here at Sensor Switch."
