January 14, 2010
Press Release

Washington, DC— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) celebrated the award of $231,362 to the Center for Community Self Help in New Haven by the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Neighborhood Stabilization Program.

The funds are part of $2 billion provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to applications who address the housing crisis in an inventive and responsible way. They recognize organizations and communities dedicated to fighting the effects of vacant and abandoned homes while creating local jobs.

Congresswoman DeLauro said, “I am very pleased that the good work the Center for Community Self Help has been doing for years is being recognized. Their dedication to improving communities and lives is truly commendable, and they will no doubt continue to transform New Haven for the better. I look forward to seeing their innovative ideas for saving local neighborhoods—and jobs—in action.”
