Celebrates National Health Center Week 2013

NEW HAVEN, CT—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) released the following statement today celebrating National Health Center Week 2013. National Health Center Week recognizes the importance of Community Health Centers across the country. This year's theme is "Celebrating America's Health Centers: Transforming Health Care in Our Local Communities."

"Our nation's Community Health Centers serve more than 22 million patients across the country, including over 200,000 patients a year in my home state of Connecticut. The health professionals who staff these centers do much more than just provide primary care, like checkups and vaccinations. They offer dental care, mental health care, and so much more to ensure millions stay healthy. And they are playing a critical role educating people about the marketplaces where they can buy health insurance starting October 1. I hope Americans from coast to coast join me this week in saluting our Community Health Centers and everyone who works hard to make them successful."

DeLauro is a longtime champion for affordable, quality, comprehensive health care and senior Democrat on the subcommittee responsible for funding the Department of Health and Human Services. Last Monday she highlighted the positive impacts of the landmark health care reform, the Affordable Care Act, at the Fair Haven Community Health Center.
