DeLauro: Republican Budget Cuts Would End Job Growth
Washington, DC— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3), Ranking Member on the Labor, Education, Health, and Human Services Appropriations Subcommittee, released the following statement today in response to the Department of Labor's announcement that the economy added 216,000 jobs and the unemployment rate fell to 8.8 percent in March.
"For over a year now, the economy has been moving in the right direction, adding private sector jobs and strengthening our middle class. But my Republican colleagues are threatening to destroy this fragile recovery, introducing legislation that will turn back job growth, hurt small businesses, eliminate critical services, and stunt our country's economic progress while playing political games with the budget that only add uncertainty to the economy. For the many American families are still struggling, now is the time to focus on supporting this economic growth by creating jobs, not hindering it."
