DeLauro Responds to HHS Grant Announcement
Washington, DC— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) released the following statement today in reaction to the announcement from the Department of Health and Human Services that the University of Connecticut was not selected to receive a Infrastructure to Expand Access to Care (IEAC) program grant.
"I am deeply disappointed that the University of Connecticut was not selected for an Infrastructure to Expand Access to Care program grant, which would have helped the school to improve their Health Center. A critical part of Connecticut's health care delivery system, the UConn Health Center is in need of assistance and this grant would have been an enormous help. With these funds, UConn would have been able to train more desperately needed doctors and nurses, while at the same time providing health services to the local communities.
"I applaud our Governor and our state Legislature for their outstanding efforts in applying for this grant, despite today's disappointment, and I look forward to exploring other potential sources of funding for the UConn Health Center."
