DELAURO RESPONSE TO CONTRACEPTION COVERAGE POLICY
Washington, DC— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3), Ranking Member on the Labor, Health, and Human Services Appropriations Subcommittee, released the following statement today in response to the Obama Administration's announcement on contraception coverage included in the Affordable Care Act.
"The Affordable Care Act was a transformative law for all Americans, and particularly for women, ensuring access to quality, affordable health care. This policy preserves the necessary balance between women's access to the health care they need, at no additional cost— as defined by the non-partisan, scientifically-based Institute of Medicine— while being respectful of churches, synagogues, mosques and other houses of worship. This compromise upholds the same objectives as last month's announcement, which I have strongly supported, and I will work to ensure that this policy is implemented in a fair and equal way that does not compromise women's access to preventive health services regardless of their employer."
