DeLauro on Senate health reform legislation
Washington, DC— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) released the following statement today on the United States Senate's health reform legislation, The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which the Senate is moving forward with:
"I am pleased that the Senate has introduced such a strong bill. Their legislation echoes the bill we passed in the House, and seeks to bring about the meaningful, comprehensive health insurance reform American families have been waiting for. I am also pleased that this bill reflects current law with regard to the use of federal funds to obtain an abortion, and gives consumers a choice in the type of coverage they choose. This is a critical difference from the House bill, and one that I strongly support. This is a step in the right direction toward ensuring that every American has access to quality, affordable health care. I look forward to the debate in the Senate, their passage of a good bill, and working with them in conference."
