DeLauro Statement on 9th Circuit Decision on Domestic Gag Rule

June 20, 2019

WASHINGTON, DC (June 20, 2019) – Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement after the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit allowed the Trump administration's domestic gag rule to go into effect.

"Today, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit failed millions people who rely on Title X for family planning services—including abortion and contraception—by allowing the Trump-Pence administration's gag rule to go into effect. This ideological assault reflects the administration and Republican's lack of trust in women to make choices that are best for them and their families. Changing the rules that govern Title X will harm millions of people across the country—including the nearly 45,000 in Connecticut who rely on it. That is why this year's Labor, Health and Human Services, Education funding bill prohibits the use of any taxpayer dollars to implement this cruel and heartless rule, and I will continue to fight this rule's implementation."
