DeLauro Statement on Chamber of Commerce Calling NAFTA Renegotiation “Dangerous”

October 6, 2017

WASHINGTON, DC (October 6, 2017) Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement in response to the Chamber of Commerce Senior Vice President's remarks calling NAFTA renegotiations "dangerous."

"When it comes to the NAFTA renegotiations underway, the Chamber of Commerce is continuing its support for the multinational corporations that have outsourced good paying American jobs. Due in no small part to the corporate protections in the agreement, NAFTA has contributed to the loss of over 900,000 American jobs. It is essential that President Trump and his administration fight for fully enforceable labor, wage, and environmental standards in the core text of the agreement, as well as an end to the corporate lawyer tribunals that stick American taxpayers with the bill when corporations do not like our laws."
