DeLauro Statement on Confirmation of Thomas Perez to Be Labor Secretary

WASHINGTON, DC—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) releasedthe following statement on the confirmation of Thomas Perez to be Secretary ofLabor. Perez was confirmed by a vote of 54-46 by the Senate this afternoon.DeLauro is the senior Democrat on the subcommittee responsible for funding theDepartment of Labor.

"Congratulations to Tom Perez on his confirmation to beAmerica's new labor secretary. He is the right person to head the LaborDepartment as it continues its work advocating for a diverse Americanpopulation. The Department has many crucial tasks before it, including ensuringour workforce has the necessary skills to compete in a global economy, makingall workplaces safe for employees and safeguarding workers' rights both at homeand abroad.
