DeLauro Statement on Death of Americans in Libya
WASHINGTON, DC—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) releasedthe following statement today condemning the attack that killed four Americanpersonnel in Libya, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens and ForeignService Officer Sean Smith:
"I am deeply saddened by the tragic deaths of our Ambassadorto Libya, Christopher Stevens, Foreign Service Information Management OfficerSean Smith, and two other Americans in the horrific attack on the U.S.Consulate in Benghazi. My thoughts and prayers go out to their familiesduring this difficult time.
"I condemn those that committed this deplorable act ofviolence and support efforts to further ensure our diplomatic personnel inLibya, Egypt and around the world are protected.
These four Americans made the ultimate sacrifice whileworking to secure a better future for the Libyan people and we all standtogether in honor of their service. We owe them, as well as all Americansserving tirelessly around the world on behalf of our country, our deepestgratitude."
