DeLauro Statement on Death of Congresswoman Pat Schroeder

Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released a statement following news that former Colorado Congresswoman Pat Schroeder died at 82.

“When it came for fighting for the respect of women – for upholding them as equals in the workplace and our world – Pat was a trailblazer. In fact, it was in part thanks to Pat’s determination that we were able to enact the Family and Medical Leave Act in 1993, which protected jobs for millions of Americans by providing unpaid leave if they needed to take care of themselves or a loved one. She fought for a government that worked for working and middle-class Americans, not the wealthiest few and biggest corporations.

“She was a force, and our nation will forever be stronger because of her contributions. My prayers are with her family and loved ones.”
