DeLauro Statement on the Departure of USDA Deputy Secretary Merrigan

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) issuedthe following statement in response to the United States Department ofAgriculture (USDA) announcement that Deputy Secretary Kathleen Merrigan will beleaving the Department.

"I am saddened to hear that Deputy Secretary Merrigan isleaving the USDA. Because of her commitment and leadership, we have had atireless leader at USDA for a range of issues like specialty crops, local foodproduction, and organic food. And her outreach to and engagement withproducers across the country, including those in my home state of Connecticut,has been phenomenal. She will be missed, but I wish her the best."
