DeLauro Statement on First-Ever Comprehensive Report on Kids’ Mental Health in America

WASHINGTON, DC--Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) releasedthe following statement in response to the release of the first comprehensivereport on children's mental health in the United States. The report,issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), noted that theprevalence of mental health disorders in kids has been increasing, with up to20 percent of kids experiencing a mental disorder each year.

"This report should serve as a call to action – we cannotcontinue to underinvest in public health programs and health services thatensure all children have access to the care they need. When up to 20percent of kids in the US are affected by a mental disorder each year, wesimply must do better. That includes investing in the CDC and ensuringthat these kids have access to the healthcare services they need."
