DeLauro Statement on HHS Contraception Notice

NEW HAVEN, CT--Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), SeniorDemocrat on the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and HumanServices and Education released the following statement on the Notice ofProposed Rulemaking published today regarding coverage of women's preventivehealth services.

"Women should be able to make their own health caredecisions without interference. While I am still reviewing the notice, Iam encouraged that the Administration continues to work to ensure that allwomen have access to recommended preventive health services without co-pays –including contraception – regardless of where they receive their healthinsurance."

The Affordable Care Act requires health insurance plans toprovide coverage of recommended preventive services with no out of pocketcharges. The notice published today clarifies how the Administration willensure that women will have access to recommended preventive services,including contraception, while respecting the concerns of religious-affiliatedinstitutions.
