DeLauro Statement on House Passage of Supplemental Disaster Relief Package
WASHINGTON, DC (May 10, 2019) — Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed more than $17 billion in disaster relief funding for communities throughout the country affected by floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, and other natural disasters.
"Americans are looking to Congress to uphold its obligations to the people of this country. Our fellow Americans have endured historic natural disasters over the past few years, and we must get them every penny they need to make them whole. That means funding to rebuild homes, schools, infrastructure, and businesses; ensuring folks have access to counseling and child care; helping workers who are out of work due to natural disasters; and much more. That is why I voted to pass this critical disaster relief bill. It is our duty to provide our friends and neighbors the support they deserve in their time of need."
DeLauro chairs the House Appropriations Subcommittee responsible for funding the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education.
