DeLauro Statement on the Life and Legacy of Former Connecticut Senator Biagio “Billy” Ciotto
NEW HAVEN, CT – Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) issued the following statement after the passing of Biagio “Billy” Ciotto. Ciotto was a former Connecticut Senator and former Deputy DMV Commissioner.
“I am heartbroken by the loss of Billy Ciotto. He was a dear friend, someone I trusted to always have my back. Billy and I had a shared history, both raised by Italian immigrants who could have never imagined the lives we went on to lead.
“There will never be another Billy Ciotto. His sense of humor and fierce dedication to his family, friends, and the people of Connecticut was unparalleled. He was the consummate public servant. Whether serving as Commissioner of DMV or in the Connecticut General Assembly, he represented the very best of what we expect from those serving in public life. More than that, he understood the life and challenges facing our working families and worked hard to make their lives easier, better.
“I will miss Billy, and Connecticut will not be the same without him. I am praying for Jeanne, his children, Maria, Julie, Anthony, Joe, and John, grandchildren, and all whose lives were shaped by Billy Ciotto.”
