DeLauro Statement on Manchester Tragedy

August 3, 2010

Washington, DC –Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (CT-3) issued the following statement today on the situation in Manchester, where nine people died this morning at a Hartford Distributors facility.

"This tragedy has shocked the local community, residents across our state, and millions across the country— all of whom have seen too many of these horrific workplace shootings. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those killed this morning in Manchester, and I thank our first responders, the law enforcement, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel who also faced the catastrophe this morning.

"Though the suspected gunman's motives are unclear, what is known is that nine people went to work this morning and never came home to their families. They were sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, friends and neighbors, and they will be terribly missed. My deepest condolences go out to their loved ones, and will do all I can to assist those who have been affected."
