DeLauro Statement on McCarthy Confirmation to Be EPA Administrator

WASHINGTON, DC—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) releasedthe following statement today on Gina McCarthy's confirmation to be the newEnvironmental Protection Agency Administrator. McCarthy is a formerCommissioner of the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection. She wasconfirmed by a vote of 59-40.

"Gina's intelligence and dedication will serve her, and theentire nation, well in this new role. I enjoyed working with her inConnecticut. Whether it was protecting the Long Island Sound or improving thequality of our air, land and water, Gina would take all points of view intoaccount, while staying true to her principles. I hope that her confirmation,coupled with the President's recent remarks means we will begin to seriouslycombat climate change, the most important ecological issue of our time."
