DeLauro Statement on One-Year Anniversary of Russian Invasion of Ukraine
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) released a statement on the one-year anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
“One year ago today, Putin launched an unprovoked war against Ukraine, and one year later, the people of Ukraine are still standing strong against his invasion. The struggle endures, but I am proud that Ukraine remains free and determined to repel Russian aggression.
“Russia has committed crimes against humanity. Ukrainians are on the frontline of efforts to stop a tyrannical dictator bent on expanding his own power. We must ensure they do not falter by being strong partners in their work to defend global democracy.
“I also want to thank the St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church community in New Haven. Over the last year, they have spearheaded the collection and near weekly shipments of medical and humanitarian supplies for Ukraine – an incredible effort. They are committed to educating our community on issues in Ukraine and highlighting the remarkable strength and resilience of the Ukrainian people. They are an inspiration to me and so many others.
“As Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee, I remain committed to ensuring Ukraine has the necessary resources to defend its independence. I will work with my colleagues in Congress to ensure they are capable of prevailing against Putin’s tyranny. The safety and security of our world depend on it.”
